There are so many reasons why you should invest in your dream goals. Your dream goals serve as the foundation for living a happier and healthier lifestyle.

A few common desires can include changing your diet or getting a new career. Whatever the case may be, you can always start making your dream goals come true today.

Before we get into the main content, I’m going to talk about the significance of this blog post’s title. I know I listed the word “invest”, but invest does not always mean financially like investing money in stocks.

Investing is the same as the word growing. You’re putting in something whether it be time, effort, or money, and you’re expecting this thing to yield beneficial results later on.

That is generally what I think about in regards to goals. It is like growing a fruit tree. First, you bury a seed underneath some soil. Next, you water it everyday. Make sure it’s exposed to the sun and wind, as well as some fertilizer.

After time passes, the plant sprouts. As long as you keep up the effort, it grows into a beautiful tree and starts to bear fruit. Which you can then eat in return and enjoy to your heart’s content.

In many situations, dreams require action. While it is important to clarify exactly what you want, you still have to put in some effort in order to evolve them into a reality.

If you want a healthier and fit body, you will have to eat better and exercise more. If you want to move, you have to set aside money for it and prepare for your trip. If you want a different career, maybe you’ll have to do research and figure out how to successfully transition into this new industry.

Those are only a few examples. Can you see how each of those dream goals requires action?

Now I’m gonna move onto some reasons why you or anyone really should invest in your dream goals.

Realizing you only have one precious life on Earth is the most important reason as to why everyone should follow their dream goals. Focus on doing whatever makes you happy so that you don’t have any regrets later on. This graphic features the title of the first step and is embellished with various shades of purple and flowers. You have one life on this planet

The first reason why you should invest in your dream goals is because you have one life on this planet. Some people believe in things like reincarnation and the afterlife. And I’m not disputing those beliefs at all.

But the fact of the matter is, your body will be gone one day. Yes, it’s sad. I’m not saying this to scare you. I’m only mentioning this because it’s important to stop and really think about how you’re currently living your life.

Even if you’re young, honestly it doesn’t matter what age you are, I still feel like everyone needs to stop and take a breather. Assess all aspects of your life such as health, love, finances, and personal happiness. Take the time and see if you are living the way you want to.

I think about this often in my personal life. I have accomplished some of my goals in the past. However, I also think about what I want to do now in the present and what I will do for the future.

I am a very goal-oriented person because my dream goals relate to my happiness. I want to write more books, tell stories, and travel to new places. Those are only a few of the things I want to do.

Regardless of how long I live, I won’t have any regrets and be rolling around in my grave. What’s important to me is that I do the things I love.

When I was in college and even when I’m out of school now, I still talk to a lot of people. One thing these people have told me is that they have a career or they are majoring in something they don’t want to do.

They do this for a number of reasons:

People have expectations that careers in certain fields such as healthcare, law, and computer science (aka doctors, lawyers, and software engineers) are stable and pay you generously. While I agree that these traditional professions can provide decent paychecks, they are also difficult industries to get into and not everyone can succeed in them.

People’s parents told them to major in those certain fields. Many classmates from my school admitted this to me. They allowed their parents to make choices for them even though they had different dreams in mind.

People choose to give up some of their happiness so that they can pay the bills and help provide for their families. They stay in their current career and ignore their inner desires to want to do something else. They don’t want to change how things are because their circumstances provide just enough to get by.

I understand why they do those things. At the end of the day, people decide however they want to live their lives.

The only things I have to say about this are:

Have you ever thought about what YOU want to do in life? Have you thought about how you can BOTH be happy and financially stable?

Many people have limiting assumptions and believe you cannot be successful in all aspects of life. People told me personally you can have either this or that, but you can never have both.

For example, some people in society say that you have to choose between passion and financial stability. You can do what you love and be poor. Or you can give up doing what you love and choose a “practical” job so that you can be financially stable.

Art is a perfect example of this. Some people want to be fine artists. These people love to draw or make sculptures. Or if they have never done any art before, these people want to learn about it. Art school has most likely crossed their minds. They may have thought about showing paintings in galleries or selling commissions to customers.

There is nothing wrong with art. However, haters in society will say it is useless to pursue art and try to make a living from it. They say that even if it’s your passion, you will always be a poor starving artist. And you will only be financially successful if you have a job like a doctor, lawyer, accountant, or engineer.

First of all, haters are dumb. It is stupid to belittle someone who has dream goals like art, especially since their dreams have nothing to do with you or anyone else. People who hate are hypocrites because everyone (and I mean everyone) who has ever said nasty comments to me is not even successful. They are miserable people and will continue to be this way.

Secondly, it is possible to be successful in any field. In the art industry, there are artists who sell paintings for thousands and even millions of dollars. In the mental health industry, some psychologists and therapists run successful social media pages that make them money. In the fitness industry, there are people who document their weight-loss journey and land brand deals afterwards. These are a few examples of people who have attained financial success through their passions.

Remember that success is different for everyone. Your definition of success may or may not look like theirs. My point is that it is possible to be financially stable without having to give up what you love doing.

If you’re thinking about how your life has played out so far and you don’t like your current circumstances, have you thought of any changes you can make today? What can you do to embody your dream lifestyle?

You have one life on this planet. Make it count.

Your dream goals can make you into a better person by giving you challenges. You cannot grow as an individual unless you step out of your comfort zone and try new things. Working on your dream goals makes you a better person

A second reason why you should invest in your dream goals is because working on them makes you a better person.

And by the words “better person”, I mean that you learn to develop stronger character.

Before I became a blogger and started the Nikkaflora Youtube Channel, I was a very different person years ago.

Then again, I was in high school. When you’re younger and still only a student, you don’t really experience the real world until you become an adult.

I was kind of a typical teenage girl. I did homework. I used Snapchat. I texted my friends, went on dates, and went shopping with my friends. While these aren’t terrible things to do, I was kinda floating through life. I lived only in the moment and didn’t really think about my future much.

Then when I was 16 years old, my experiences led me to become invested in personal development. My mentality began to shift, and I started learning more about setting goals, how to get a corporate job, and how to make better friends.

I took care of my body by exercising more. I love taking Zumba dance classes and doing yoga stretches.

I was discovering more of my potential, and I eventually thought it would be cool to blog about my interests and personal growth experiences someday.

Making videos for people made me a better communicator. I can speak to people in person much more easily. I feel more confident in general.

When I focused on my dreams, I became more mindful. I put a lot of thought into the content I create because I wish for more people to know it’s okay to love and cherish their dreams. Even if society thinks those dreams are ridiculous, or it’s not considered to be a practical career.

A reason why I started publishing stories online is because my friends used to read my stories when we were younger. I’d type up a chapter, print it out, and they would read it in front of me and praise me.

Honestly, I think the main reason why they praise me is because we are friends. They’re kind people and usually say nice things to me. But they still enjoyed reading my stories and always encouraged me to follow my heart and do whatever I love. I was lucky enough to have that kind of love and support from a young age.

It makes a huge impact on someone, if you say positive things and get them to believe in the possibilities of life.

If I can become a better person by investing in my dream goals, you also have the potential to improve and grow too.

Bettering your lifestyle is always a plus. Regardless of how your life unfolded, you have the choice to work on your dream goals and create the life you want. This graphic features the title of the third step and is embellished with various shades of purple and flowers. Image by © Nikkaflora.

Your dream goals can improve your lifestyle

Moving on, a third reason why you should invest in your dream goals is because your dream goals can improve your lifestyle.

Goals are usually set with the intention to improve one’s life. Some people set goals since they’re bored and want to do something new.

However, in many cases, it’s because someone isn’t happy with something in their life, and they want to change it.

In my youtube community tab, I made a list of common goals people set. It consisted of:

  • Improving their diet
  • Exercising more
  • Quitting or cutting down on smoking and drinking
  • Spending more time with family
  • Doing better in school
  • Getting a new job
  • Learning new skills
  • Traveling to new places

I’ll go over a couple of these in more detail.

Doing better in school

So doing better in school is something many students strive for. I don’t know the exact percentage, but people do struggle in school. Especially when you’re in college. They give you more homework depending on who your teacher is and what classes you have.

If your grades could be better or you’re not understanding the material, you can try talking to your teachers more. You can look for other ways to study efficiently, or go to tutoring sessions.

Sometimes I did that when I was in high school and college, I would stay after class and ask my teachers the questions I came up with during the lectures. It pretty much helped me understand what they were talking about earlier.

I also watched videos online about the class I’m taking. Having something visually shown to you brings a deeper level of understanding rather than just only reading about it.

Getting a new job

Another goal many people strive for is getting a new job. Maybe your current job sucks whether it’s the people, it doesn’t pay well, or it has no benefits. If any of these circumstances apply to you, you can always switch to a different career.

If you don’t have a job and want to make some money, then you can focus on getting one. Jobs give you valuable work experience, and you can use it to cater to your future career.

You can also try to negotiate with the company for a raise and more benefits. Many people are afraid to ask for this. Honestly, it should not be a taboo topic because most likely, this job is what you depend on to be able to financially live.

What I learned from other people, is that oftentimes it’s the work environment you’re in, maybe you’ve done this specific profession for so long and you feel burned out. It doesn’t hurt to try something new.

A fear of change stops many people from trying out new career paths. New careers can require things such as going to college to get a different degree, going to a trade school in order to receive certifications, or getting more professional experience in general.

Yes it requires some work, but imagine when you get your new job, maybe this is your dream job you’ve been thinking of doing for a long time. Think about how much happier you can be. You have the potential to make more money and be able to provide a better lifestyle for you and your family.

You never know unless you try.

Let’s recap!

I listed 3 reasons why you or anyone else should invest in your dream goals.

The first reason is because you have one life on this beautiful planet. Don’t waste it and live life how you want to.

The second reason is because going after your dream goals makes you a better person.

And the third reason is because your dream goals can improve your lifestyle.

Think about the possibilities of what you can do and do what you love today.

So yeah that’s pretty much it!
